For ten years, Barbara has been part of the soul of the Southern Empress. She has greeted our guests with kindness, steadied our crew through long seasons, and poured her heart into this ship every single day. If you’ve called us or sailed with us, you’ve felt her presence, the way she makes people feel welcome, seen, and cared for.
Today, Barbara is facing a battle no one should face alone. Her upcoming cancer surgery and the treatments that follow have brought a heavy financial strain, and she has been doing everything she can to keep up, even putting medical costs on her credit cards just to stay on schedule.
On July 25th, 2026, we will host a Benefit Lunch Cruise in her honor. Our expenses will be covered, and every dollar of net profit will go directly to Barbara to help ease the burden of her medical bills and support her through recovery. For those who cannot attend but still want to stand with her, donations can also be made directly through the Southern Empress website. Every contribution, large or small, makes a real difference in her fight.
Barbara has given a decade of her life to this ship. Her legacy is reflected in the warmth and care she has shown every guest and in the lasting impact she has had on our community. Now, in her moment of need, we have the chance to give back to someone who has given so much to us.
